Experience a Spiritual Delight in the Land of Muktinath

Traveling to a spiritual land like Muktinath you will always look forward to finding out the reason for liberation. In any spiritual tour, the idea of liberation is to make an eternal connection with the Lord. Under the influence of hustling life, one loses the complete faith towards divinity. A pilgrimage tour is widely significant among mortal beings because it somehow reestablishes a relationship between the lord and the disciple. In the course of a lifetime, one follows the path of ignorance. Such an ignorant lifestyle leads us to mere darkness. The sole aim of this pilgrimage tour is to guide the pathless souls in the right direction.

In the cosmic cycle of birth and death, we are all well aware of the existence of the Lord. We sometimes decide to deny the spiritual power of nature. Being a mortal being, we always rationalize every incident but beyond it, there is a presence of natural law. The questions of natural laws remain unanswered for centuries. The spiritual power of the Lord plays an important role at a particular time. In every religion, the idea of karma is quite important. It is believed the path of wrong and right doing actually determines the pathway to heaven. Once in a lifetime, we engage in any kind of sacred tour to redeem our committed sin. Muktinath is one such pilgrimage site that will offer you a heavenly experience.

Located at the foothills of Thorong La mountain pass, this Vishnu shrine is widely visited by the devotees to obtain inner peace. This 3710m high situated Vaishnavite temple is one of the sacred places to visit in Nepal. Muktinath Tour is believed to be one of the pious tours to be taken by both the Hindus and the Buddhists. The Hindus believe this sacred vault as one of the most auspicious sites devoted to Lord Vishnu. In the old religious scriptures, the mountains are always described as the heavenly abode of the gods. While stepping on the mystical land of Mustang you will find out the magical aura in the air. The grandeur view of the Himalayas and the spirituality of Muktinath will leave you to spellbound. As mentioned earlier, everyone is concerned about the devotion and the path of liberation simultaneously. The liberation of the soul is an abstract idea preached by the spiritual thinkers in the mere of engaging the devotees with the Lord. The Yatrato Muktinath will be a transformational experience for you as you will start learning the blend of divinity and spirituality.

The etymological meaning of the word Muktinath is the lord of liberation. Why do we seek liberation from the world? How do we get liberated from the cycle of life and death? These questioned are asked by the mortal being from time immemorial. We always try to find out the reasons to renounce the worldly bondage to enjoy an eternal bond with the Lord. In the world full of desires and pleasure, it will be quite difficult for us to find out the perfect path of liberation. The spiritual thinkers believe those who visit this auspicious land, they have redefined the meaning of liberation and divinity. Everyone is in earnest quest for finding the place to obtain moksha. It is believed this sacred tour will take you to an intimate interaction with the Lord. One starts understanding the meaning of divinity. The omnipresence of divine power becomes meaningful after reaching this sacred land of Muktinath.

Muktinath Yatra

Since childhood, we are told by our elders that one should take a bath before visiting the temple. The sole objective is to make our body purified before entering a sacred sanctum like a temple. The temple architecture of Muktinath will completely amaze you. The pagoda styled temple is believed to be one of the Shakti Peethas of the world. After the death of Devi Sati, when Shiva lost his consciousness and created a chaos in the universe then Lord Vishnu with his Sudarshan chakra, decapitated the body of Devi Sati. The forehead of the goddess fell on this sacred sanctum. So this temple not only celebrates the omnipresence of Lord Vishnu but also the divine energy of Devi Sati. Without visiting this auspicious land you will never understand the complete blend of cosmic energy and spiritual power coexists in this mountainous temple. The significance of a pilgrimage tour is to understand the complete meaning of historical and mythical significance along with the existence of divine power.

Deviant Bon culture in Nepal

This religion is one of the oldest indigenous religions. They have migrated to the beautiful valley of Nepal from Tibet. This religion came into existence in the early 11th century before the commencement of Buddhism. The followers of the religion are called Bonpo. Tonpa Shenrab was the sole founder of the religion. The practitioners of Bon religion are found in China, Tibet and in parts of central Asia. Most of the people get confused about this religion with the Buddhist practices.

Later Bon adapted the basic principles of Buddhism to shape its own culture. In the western world, people often make mistakes of taking Bon religion the same as Buddhism. Mostly in the monasteries of Nepal, one finds the practitioners of this ethnic religion. Mostly in the western part of Tibet and the northwestern part of Nepal, one can explore the magnificence of this religion. It is difficult to distinguish the Bon religion from Tibetan Buddhism. Those who study theology can easily understand the remarkable differences between these two religions. In terms of doctrines, spiritual thinkers express their thoughts differently. In the end, both these religions aim to attain liberation and become one with the enlightened Buddha.

Spiritual thinker of Bon religion

As mentioned earlier, Tonpa Shenrab is the sole founder of the religion. His name means Supreme Clan Teacher. It is believed that Lord Buddha took the physical form of Tonpa Shenrab to preach the world his morality. The followers of Bon religion think that their founder was awakened by Lord Buddha and was given a responsibility to awake everyone to the path of righteousness. For the religion, Kailash Mansarovar is the holy site because Shenrab descended to mortal world from heaven in that auspicious site. The Bonpos believe that one can easily attain salvation after taking a pilgrimage tour to this holy site.

Categorization of Bon religion

The theologists make the three basic distinctions of Bon religion

Old Bon: those who practice shamans

New or reformed Bon: originated from the principles of Buddhism and absorbed a few of the main principles of the religion

Swastika bon: religion established by Shenrab and it considers as the eternal moment of engagement with the lord.

Doctrines of Bon religion

In Buddhism, the middle path is the only way to attain liberation but in Bon religion, one has to follow different ways to attain the enlightenment. In this religion, one has to understand the fellow existence of different segregation of religion. One has to take a meditative path along with tantric practices to attain salvation. In recent years, people in Nepal are putting effort to preserve this enriched culture of Bon religion.

Remarkable monasteries of Bon religion

Mostly the tourists visit the monastery in Mustang and Dolpo districts. The long history of the monastic system had started in Bon religion long back in the 11th century. Mostly the architecture of these monasteries follows a similar salient feature. All have gliding roof. The prayer halls, sutra center, stupa all are present within the monastery. The imagery of Buddha is present inside the sanctum of the monastery. The walls of the monastery show religious and cultural inscriptions. The large debate halls are also present inside the monasteries for discussing the doctrines of the religion.

Auspicious festival of Bon religion

Nepal Buddhist Tour

As per the long written myths, it is known that Mt. Kailash stands out on the high Tibetan Plateau. It is believed to be the earthly manifestation of the divine lord. It is the site of Tantric Mandala from where the world originates. Saga Dawa is the most prominent festival celebrated by the people in the sacred site of Mt. Kailash. The word Saga means a star that appears in the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar in the sky and dawa means month. Therefore this festival is celebrated at the beginning of May and continues till the end of June. In the festival, one celebrates the cycle of birth and death along with the attainment of Lord Buddha.  The Bonpos believe to perform any kind of meritorious deeds on this particular auspicious month. One circumambulates around Mt. Kailash during this month for accumulating meritorious deeds on their path to attain enlightenment. Unlike other time, during Saga Dawa festival completing kora around Mt. Kailash means 100000 times for every other circumambulation around any holy mountain.

Travel to the heritage town of Nepal: Thimi

Nepal is quite famous for its vibrant cultural practices. It is still observed that Nepal has a good balance between rural and urban lifestyles. Though it is one of the most widely visited countries among foreign travelers, most of its area is rural till date. After the catastrophic destruction due to the earthquake, the country is still reviving its ethnicity.  When a foreign traveller visits any new country, they want to visit the least explored locations. Thimi is one such location situated between Kathmandu valley and Bhaktapur. The other name of the city is Madhyapur because it is sandwiched between two different cities. It is the fourth largest city located in Kathmandu valley. The population is moving out of the city for the other two neighbouring cities. The locals want to settle down on the urban landscape for better opportunities. Very few tourists know about this town and the oldest heritage building located around the township. You will be visiting this heritage town for its fantastic tantric and Newari styled temples.

Nepal Tour

It is located en route to Bhaktapur road. The brick-paved narrow alleys along with medieval temples have been in the bucket lust of the tourists earlier. The town is trying to sustain in between the urban development of Kathmandu and the cultural spirits of Bhaktapur. If you once travel across the town, then you will understand the primitiveness of the town. You will find out small chortens and temples across the north-south lane. If you are traveling to this town, Balkumari is the must visit one. Located in the southern part of the town, this pagoda styled 16th-century temple is quite famous among the residents. In the inner sanctum of the temple, you will find a vulva like a child kumari which is worshipped by the childless couples. This kumari symbolizes fertility and it is the younger sister of goddess Laxmi. She also rides on a peacock. The Newari people worship in this temple to fulfil their wishes. A heavy metal fence is put around the temple recently to prevent it from any kind of theft. On 2011, the original peacock statue was stolen from the inner sanctum of the temple. If you are an ardent lover of architecture, then the metal panelling of the fantastic designs on the temple wall will make it completely adorable among the tourists. So the childless couple travels to this remote location in search of inner peace of the family. On Nepali New Year (14th April), a festival is celebrated in the temple complex it’s called Sindoor Jatra. In this festival, all the deities are taken out of the temple on palanquins for strolling across the town and red vermillion powder is showered like confetti. This festival symbolizes rejoice. Around 32 palanquins are taken out carrying the deities. On the very following day of Sindoor Jatra, in a nearby village, Bode a man put a metal spike pierced through the mouth to bring good luck to the village. It is believed to be auspicious to witness this holy festival.

If you are traveling to Thimi, then you must encounter the beautiful pottery culture of the town. Those potteries are used for commercial purpose as well. The shops located on the side alleys will offer some of the best skills of craftsmanship. In comparison to Bhaktapur, you will find out potteries in different styles as well. In terms of tourism, this town is quite behind in comparison with Bhaktapur and Kathmandu. The tour guides also do not take initiative to bring the heritage culture of the town in front of the international travelers. This town remains behind the shadow of Bhaktapur or Kathmandu. Therefore, beauty is subdued under the influence of such commercial neighboring cities. This undiscovered land will always allure the lover of art and architecture.
